The history of the oldest cognac house Martell began in 1715, when Jean Martell cognac founded his own company. Businessman Jean Martel achieves rapid success in France and displays its cognac house in the world market from the supply to the UK and Scandinavia. Already in 1715, shipments to the UK was 200,000 liters. Today, Martell is a list of the three largest producers of cognac in the world.
